ON March 22 around 7.30pm, my sister and I were travelling to bingo in Lydney. When I approached the junction of Bream Road with High Street we saw that someone had just hit a cat over. They drove off leaving the poor animal in the road.

What made matters worse was that a van in front also ran over the cat. More drivers just drove round the poor thing but not one person stopped to pick it up.

When I did get to the junction the car in front stopped and a woman got out, picked up the cat and lay it on the pavement.

She, like us, could not believe so many people just drove around it or even drove over it.

I am sorry if this is read by the cat's owner, but this is how people are today. They just don't care.

It's bad enough to hit something over. But whoever does so should have the decency to pick it up.
