AS a wildlife enthusiast I was disheartened to discover that the Northern Quarter Regeneration will involve the disturbance and destruction of important wildlife habitats, that of the lesser and greater horseshoe bat, otter, great crested newt and small pearl bordered fritillary to mention just a few.

After investigating further and reading the Cinderford Area Action Plan Baseline Report, Section 4.4, I was perplexed to find that they plan to create and run an environmental education centre.

I find this contrary to its aims and objectives as the development of the site will have negative impacts on the very thing the centre will be educating people about.

I would also like to point out that the Forest has a wonderful environmental education centre – or it did have until Gloucestershire County Council deemed it no longer viable to run – it's called the Wilderness Centre.
