I HAVE notice the infantile attempt by the Forest of Dean District Council to fill the famous black hole of £1.1 million at the expense of Linkline.
This is a direct attack on the aged, the infirm, the handicapped and those who need help most. They remind me of a pack of wolves who will pick out the weakest and most vulnerable before the kill.
Spokesman Tony Wisdom says users will receive better service at lower cost. It seems Mr Wisdom and Two Rivers all use the same bird seed and sing the same song.
I hope the public will note the mention of Marion Winship's cabinet, which will do as much good as another hole in the head.
One of the recent suggestions by a new council officer was to pedestrianise Lydney. If you really want to save money, pedestrianise all the employees at the Taj Mahal, starting at the top of course, and kick out all the deadwood.
I also note Cllr Marion Winship's comments 'defectors are letting down the electorate'. No, no, no Maid Marion. It is you and the tribe who have let the electorate down.
The six that have defected have shown courage and they will not be dictated to. They also know what 'democracy' means.
Let us hope the Conserative's wolfpack do not have the same influence at the next election. I do not believe any one party should have control, and if and when the Conservatives lose control in the Forest of Dean, they should unlock the brooms and clean out the Taj Mahal – and change the names on the internal doors. – Mike Meredith-Edwards, Sling.
