REGARDING recent correspondence on green bag rubbish collection and the Forest of Dean District Council Forest Link article on recycling (Review 6.9.02).

I would have thought most people could have dealt with a few cabbage stumps and the spud peelings in an environmentally friendly way without the expense of "Nanny" having to send a lorry round to collect it, but that's only the opinion of an old "Eco-Forester."

Surely it is more important to deal with the question of the dumping of plastic bottles?

Is not throwing millions of plastic bottles into landfill every week damaging the environment? Have a good look at an empty Tesco ginger beer bottle – an environmental timebomb if ever I saw one.

I have seen no "strategy" for dealing with this. The French have got to grips with it, though, and recycle theirs. You see big wire mesh cages for the purpose at their recycling sites.

What are we doing? (If we are doing anything). Talking about it, as usual, or doing a feasibility study. – Eric Nicholls, Trinity Road, Harrow Hill.
