POLICE want to trace two Good Samaritans who stepped in to help at the scene of a crash on the Lydney by-pass.

The two helped direct traffic after a car ran into a lamp-post near the Lydney turn-off on Wednesday last week (February 8) until the emergency services arrived.

Gloucestershire Police would like the public-spirited motorcyclist and car driver to come forward so they can be thanked.

Chief Inspector Giulia Marogna, had herself come across the collision while off-duty and stopped to help the driver, who was fortunately not seriously injured.

She said: “The public spiritedness of these two motorists who pulled over to direct the traffic is to be commended and I’d like to drop them a letter of thanks.

"But they left the scene before we could take their contact details.

"We’d very much like them to get in touch and call us on 101, quoting incident number 403 of 8/2/17.”
