MOTORISTS who text or use their mobile phone with their hands when driving could find themselves caught in a crackdown this week.
Plain-clothed officers from Gloucestershire Police are out on the county’s streets filming traffic to catch offenders, who could be liable for a £200 fine and up to six points on their licence.
The force tweeted yesterday (Tuesday, September 18): “Plain-clothed officers using small cameras will be out watching the roads this week. Do you text and drive?”
They also tweeted advice to auto-disable phone notifications while driving to “help avoid that £200 fine and those 6 points”.
Gloucestershire Police and Crime Commisioner Martin Surl tweeted: “Using your mobile when driving is not a good idea, especially from today.”
