I WAS reading a regional newspaper about the police in the Forest division putting in for a roving camera.
What a waste of time and money. What the people of the Forest want is more roving policemen.
Lydney is totally out of control at the moment. What we need is a full time police station. The hooligans that ride up and down town and smash windows, spray graffiti on the walls, tip the bins upside down, and kick the signs over on the roundabout outside Dillons have a free reign to do what they want to do.
All this is being done under the CCTV system which, the police say, has cut crime. Rubbish, what we need is more police patrolling our streets.
A policeman patrolling the street is more of a deterrent than these cameras will ever be. – H. Simpson, Lydney.
