A FOREST drama group was delighted when the date of the EU referendum was announced.
Parkend Players production Yes, Prime Minister starts a three-day run from next Wednesday (June 22).
“We were delighted when David Cameron announced that polling day was in the middle of our run,” said director Clive Osborne. “We could not have asked for much better publicity support.
“Whether you are In or Out, we’re sure you will enjoy our outrageous political goings-on.”
The fast-paced comedy features an energy crisis, rising prices, job cuts, a row with the BBC, splits in the Cabinet, crisis in the EU, a pretty ineffective Prime Minister, scheming civil servants, greedy bankers, bad news on global warming and illegal immigrants – plus a sex scandal which could end Jim Hacker’s tenure at No 10.
The play was written in 2010 by Sir Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, authors of the 1980s BBC TV comedy classics Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister.
Clive added: “I have been amazed by the uncanny accuracy of the script. Almost every day the real news includes stories which seem to reflect some part of Hacker’s Downing Street.”
The production is at Parkend Memorial Hall. For tickets and times visit www.parkendplayers.org.uk
