PEOPLE living in Caldicot could receive their post earlier or later as Royal Mail introduces new delivery methods from this week.

Royal Mail says many people will continue to receive their post by lunchtime.

The changes cover the NP26 postcode, sectors three to five which cover the town and surrounding villages.

Similar changes have already been made in Lydney and Monmouth.

Postmen and women will use new delivery methods, such as shared vans and trolleys, to deliver letters and the growing number of parcels.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "Unfortunately, fewer letters are now posted every day and Royal Mail needs to organise its delivery routes to be as efficient as possible.

"We also deliver an increasing number of larger items, so we are investing in new equipment to carry these items to customers even more securely.

"The new equipment also reduces the risk of injury to our postmen and women from carrying heavier mail bags."

Royal Mail is writing to every home and business in the area and more information is also available by calling 0845 601 1399 or textphone 0845 600 0606.
