YET another letter complaining about the NP postcode for the Tidenham area stemming, I suppose, from the Lance Allen and Co. publicity article written by Bob Smyth (Review, January 18, 2992). Sadly much could have been written about the actual history of the area.
However, could you please report the other side of the postcode argument?
Regarding the insurance myth. Note that when I changed from a GL postcode (while living in Northavon just over the border from Gloucestershire) to a NP postcode both car and house insurances reduced and when my daughter recently moved from a NP code to a GL code her insurances increased.
No-one I know has experienced problems regarding deliveries or services. Perhaps the answer is not to be clever and give your postal address and not a geographical one.
At the present time we enjoy an early morning post. Would this be the case if deliveries were from Coleford? Would parishioners be happy travelling to Coleford to collect undelivered parcels?
Will those who wish to change the code fund the project themselves and not expect pensioners to help fund their somewhat racist attitudes via increased local rates?
Just one other point, nothing to do with postcodes. If the parish council chairman is on such good terms with the army at Beachley, perhaps he could get the Adj. to organise a duty FOD team to clean up all the litter dropped along the Old Ferry Road at Beachley. – G. Mitchard, Beachley.
