CALDICOT Musical Theatre Society’s latest show ended with a surprise announcement.

Among the audience on the last night of the revue show We Go Together was regional adjudicator for the National Operatic and Dramatic Association Sharon Davies.

She announced that among those shortlisted for regional awards were the society’s previous show Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree and member Tess Morgan for her portrayal of Nancy in Oliver last autumn.

She also praised the revue which featured well-known songs from a range of musicals from Grease to The Rocky Horror Show.

Mrs Davies singled out the younger members – who are as young as six – for particular praise.

She said: “There is a lot of work that goes into revues and there was a lot of enjoyment and commitment.

“With your younger members, the society has a bright future.”

The society, which meets at Portskewett Church Hall on Mondays between 7pm and 9pm, is now preparing for its next production, Alice in Wonderland which will be performed at Dewstow Gardens, Caldicot in the spring.
