I HAVE been following the correspondence regarding parking charges in Mitcheldean with interest.  I shop there, but often just pop down for a newspaper, and clearly adding 20p to its cost means I go elsewhere where I don't have to pay to park.

There are a few precious free parking places outside the shops, but I wonder how fair it is when one of these places is taken up by the enforcement officer when visiting Mitcheldean?

If these places are full, then the officer uses one of the library parking spaces. As the library is no longer run by the council, again I wonder whether this is correct procedure?

Surely council employees should practise what the council preaches, and pay their 20p like the rest of us.
