I AM writing regarding the article on the front page of the Review about incidents on the A48.

While I am not disputing the oil on the surface of the road at Sparks Hill between Newnham and Blakeney, and I wish the gentleman in question a speedy recovery, there is nothing wrong with the A48.

The problem is the drivers.

Accidents occur on this stretch of road from Gloucester to Chepstow and are caused by speeding, overtaking in inappropriate places and, in general, careless driving.

As a passenger I encountered one of these drivers in a BMW on Tuesday, August 23 on this road, swaying, overtaking on a corner and speeding.

Idiots like him cause serious accidents, injuring or killing innocent people.

So, as stated, the road is perfectly safe, it is the careless action of the drivers.

I did report the BMW driver to the police for his foolish driving.

So to everyone: speed can kill.
