ASK most people why they wish to vote ‘leave’ on June 23 and they will give you names, dates, quote treaty details or EU directives, talk of falling trade or fear of uncontrollable immigration, loss of sovereignty since joining the EU and have having lost 1 million jobs in shipbuilding, steel plants, fishing, textiles, chemicals and many other industries where we were once world leaders, of re-joining the Commonwealth and a bright future outside as our own masters.
In other words a huge amount of solid, factual information, easily checked and confirmed.
Ask those who want to remain, even politicians, and all you get are vague stories of ‘friends in Europe’, threats, maybe discredited talk about millions of job losses but nothing tangible, nothing solid.
If they had a case for staying in now is the time to say it, loudly and clearly. But we hear not a word beyond ‘Project Fear’.
Their silence speaks volumes. There are obviously no good reasons to vote ‘remain’ in the referendum.
