STUDENTS from Whitecross School in Lydney have just taken part in a prize photographic workshop.

Colliers Green Focus is a national project that encourages young geographers to spend a day exploring their local community in the context of environmental change and sustainability.

The scheme is supported by popular TV wildman, Steve Backshall and prizes will be awarded to the winning students at an awards ceremony in November.

A group of 14 students from Year 8 plus teachers were taken on a field-trip with two of the Colliers Green Focus project team to investigate the land use in the Forest of Dean and the steps that have been or need to be taken to protect it, balanced with the need for a thriving economy.
