ONE of Monmouth’s biggest employers is investing £3million in its main manufacturing facility based in the town.
The Tri-Wall investment, which is mainly focused on its Corrugator facility, promises to bring efficiency and a larger capacity to the Wonastow Road site to match the best in Europe in its business sector.
The £3m investment follows a successful year in 2016 where the business saw a dramatic turnaround in results from the previous two years.
The main investment will be supplied by BHS Germany, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of this type of equipment and will be phased in over the coming year, with the full effect being realised in early 2018.
The investment is a clear commitment to the continued support of the business’ parent company, Rengo, who acquired the Tri-Wall group in October 2016.
Phil Rees, managing director of Tri-Wall Europe, said: “This business is now on a very strong footing and the investment will allow Tri-Wall Europe to expand its activities while improving its standards of quality and service.
“I am absolutely delighted that the efforts of the employees at Tri-Wall Europe and the commitment to our customers have been rewarded with this major investment.”
Monmouth Assembly Member Nick Ramsay welcomed the announcement and said: “This is great news for the town. Tri-Wall has been a staple part of the town’s business landscape for over 50 years when the company was known as DS Smith Packaging Limited and today the company employs many local people.
“I have visited the factory on a number of occasions and have been impressed by the management’s commitment to embrace change, diversify and to invest in research and development.
“I would like to congratulate the management and team at Tri-Wall who have worked so hard to achieve this latest investment.”
