RECYCLING overload in Yorkley has prompted pub landlord Gary Brown to set up his own eco-scheme.

The Bailey Inn landlord said his pub produced such a lot of recyclable waste that Biffa was unable to collect it all.

He said: "After many trips to the recycling point in Lydney, we contacted the local council to ask if we could become a recycling point for Yorkley.

"We were told that it was possible, but only if their large refuse collection truck could get in and out of our car park successfully."

But there was bad news as Biffa told Gary the gate wasn't wide enough to accommodate their trucks.

But undeterred, Gary roped in friends Syd James and Mike James who helped to widen the entrance to the car park.

"I just said we needed the entrance widening and they said 'We'll do it'. They spent all Saturday morning on it and they still haven't claimed the meal I promised them in return. They are such nice people," says Gary.

Gary wants to invite everyone to do their recycling at the Bailey Inn. There are facilities for clear, brown and green bottles, cans, plastic bottles and paper.
