ONE can’t help but notice the deterioration in Public Services and the degrading of the public realm.

An ever-diminishing band of public servants heroically struggle to maintain decent  services in the face of  never-ending spending  cuts and the constant threat of their jobs being sold off in further privatisations.

As  they struggle with their Sisyphean task, the deterioration of the public realm is there for all to see.

For example, the failure to invest in infastructure, the closures and run-down of the library service, overflowing drains, collapsing social care  and the cuts to cleansing budgets.

So called ‘austerity’, deregulation and the ’supremacy of the market’  accelerates the deterioration and destruction of what we once held dear.

Is this what we want?
