TUTSHILL quilter Frances Meredith beat off worldwide competition to claim the overall champion award at the 2016 Great Northern Quilt Show, held in Harrogate earlier this month.
The winning quilt was entitled Nearly Insane. In addition to winning the championship, Frances also took first prize in the bed quilt category and in the longarm machine quilting award.
Frances said: “As well as competing in national quilt competitions, I run Fabadashery, a professional longarm quilting service in the Forest of Dean, completing patchwork quilt tops for quilters.
“My quilts are mounted onto a large frame and, using a specialised sewing machine, freehand or computerised patterns can be used to stitch the layers of the quilt together.”
