Members of the Chepstow Racecourse team went to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in the town to volunteer to mark the recent Racing Together Community Day.
The day provides racing charities and businesses across Britain with an opportunity and focus to engage with their local area and build lasting relationships with those that share the communities in which they operate.
Members of staff from Chepstow Racecourse went to St Mary’s Catholic School to help with tasks such as pressure washing, weeding flower beds, sanding and much more to help the school with their maintenance.
Caroline Williams, General Manager of Chepstow Racecourse, said: “We were delighted to help out local school St Mary’s with gardening duties around their playground.
“It was great to get out of the office and mix together with all our work colleagues in a totally different environment, while enjoying the fresh air.”
Various racecourses and organisations within the horse racing industry up and down the country have taken part in voluntary work this week to contribute to the Racing Together Community Day.
Racing Together’s vision is for British racing to be known as a ‘force for good’ by helping the communities in which the sport operates.
Racing Together achieves this by providing practical support and resources to the partnership – hosting an action group to generate ideas, collaboration and progress; working on specific nationwide initiatives. It also hosts inspiring master classes and coordinates the Racing Together Community Day while promoting and sharing best examples of community engagement .
