THE Chepstow Fair Trade Forum is offering wine lovers the chance to have a fair tasting.

The group is hold a Fair Trade wine-tasting event as part of Fair Trade Fortnight.

Sales of Fair Trade wine from countries such as Argentina, Chile and South Africa, have increased more than 10-fold over five years.

Tanya White of the Chepstow Fair Trade Forum said: "We are holding a Fair Trade wine tasting event at the Tourist Information Centre in Bridge Street where we will be sampling six dfferent wines.

"Sometimes we can make a direct difference to people while enjoying the support activity."

The evening is being supported by Co-op in Chepstow and Waitrose in Caldicot.

Sarah Burris, branch manager of Waitrose in Caldicot, said: "It is fantastic to support Fair Trade and all the opportunities that it brings supporting the actual producers."

Alyson Bond, the manager of Chepstow Co-op, said: "We are 100 per cent behind Fair Trade where you can be sure that someone on the other side of the world is benefiting from a better deal that will improve their lives."

Fair Trade Fortnight runs from February 27 until March 11. Chepstow has been a Fair Trade town since 2006.
