A SIX-year-old tennis fan raised £105 for Children in Need when he had a rally with his coach.

Kian Trevains, a Year Two pupil at Ysgol Gymraeg y Ffin – the Welsh medium school for south Monmouthshire in Caldicot, was so inspired after a series of Children in Need activities at school that he got his tennis coach involved the following day.

Kian completed a 26-ball rally – his best ever – with coach Luke Di Franco at Newport Tennis Centre and raised £105.

Kian said: “I can’t believe how much money I raised for Pudsey and I am very happy to help all those children.”

Children and grown-ups across the Forest and Wye Valley saw spots as they supported the annual charity marathon.

Pupils at the Dean Academy in Lydney raised nearly £550 by dressing up in spotty clothes and donning Pudsey Bear ears.

There were lots of fun events, including a cake sale and a special Children in Need quiz where students had to identify teachers from their childhood photos.

Geography teacher Mrs Fiona Price said: “Our students have had a lot of fun dressing up and raising money for Children in Need and in doing so they have raised over £540 for a really important charity.”

Children’s author Andy Seed joined pupils at Blakeney School where they made a large Pudsey out of coins.

Andy, who moved to the village earlier this year, was invited along to place the last coin on Pudsey’s eye.

The school estimates it has raised some £250 for the charity.

As well as dressing up, children at Monmouth School’s pre-prep and nursery made Pudsey Bear masks and hats and stick-pin Pudsey puppets.

They also took part in a baking competition and the Friends of Agincourt rounded off a fun-packed day with a cake sale which raised £288.88.

There was also plenty of activity at Monmouth Boys School’s prep school, where a bring-and-buy and a cake sale helped to raise £555.
