FOURTEEN different acts took to the stage last Sunday, as the Redbrook Micro festival took to the stage at the Bell Inn.

Organised by Tamzin and Matt Powell from americana band Ghost Of A Dog, the event ran from 2pm to 8pm, and raised over £400 for the charity Medicins Sans Frontiers.

Various members of different bands, local and national, came together for the event, which saw the Sunday afternoon pub packed out and dancing breaking out in the main bar.

Commenting on the event, compere Tim Oakes said: "What started out as a simple gig-in-the-pub turned out to be something special indeed. Matt and Tamzin managed to enroll a host of great artists to play, and, with the help of their ace soundman Lyndon Webb, we managed to get everyone on stage, on time.

"The scope was great - The Herring Brothers played their blues, Hannah Freeman did her songs, Hannah and Alex brought a skeleton version of the Redland Palamino Company, Delila and the Lost Boils were as fun as they sound, Al Thomas and Dave Wright showed their class, Dan James hammered hell out of his bouzouki, shy Dennis Manning finally did a gig, Ruth Thompson sang unaccompanied to a breathless audience, Wild Welsh Women reformed for a rare show, and Gareth The Blacksmith borrowed a guitar for his stint. The show ended with Ghost Of A Dog playing a brilliant set."

Tamzin Powell commented: "It was a great day and I'd like to thank everyone who gave their time and effort to make it work. Special thanks to Chris at the Bell too - and to Tim for his Hang playing and doing mandolin on our set of Sandy Denny songs, which people seemed to really appreciate."

The money raised will be split by Medicins Sans Frontiers between the Syria appeal, and the Philippines disaster relief fund.
