PEOPLE with concerns about a busy Severnside road will get their chance to quiz highways chiefs.
The B4245, the main road between Caldicot and Newport, has seen two serious accidents this year.
Monmouthshire Council’s head of operations, Roger Hoggins, said a special meeting is being organised for councillors and members of the public.
He told last week’s full council meeting: “We are organising a special meeting with members (of the council) and members of the public who may wish to address the meeting.”
Caldicot councillor Tony Easson (Lab, Dewstow) said the road between Rogiet and Undy was “a death trap waiting to happen.”
He added: “It is a very dangerous road with four or five different speed limits, one of which is 60mph.
“It also carries very heavy lorries through Caldicot, damaging roads and they are a danger to the rest of the traffic.”
He said improvements had been an “aspiration” and creating a standard speed limit and reducing the 60mph limit should be taken up with the Welsh Government.
Cllr Lisa Dymock (Con, The Elms) said: “We cannot ignore the fact that two people have been hospitalised and are facing life-changing injuries.
“I would welcome an uninterrupted speed limit of 30mph from Caldicot to Magor which would provide a safer environment for residents.
