IF you remember Betty, the kitten dumped at Cannop Crossroads, we're pleased to say she's recovering and now thriving.
Sara Ford, joint co-ordinator of Forest of Dean Cats Protection says: "Many of your readers might remember Betty, the tabby kitten who was dumped at Cannop Crossroads.
"We are delighted to report that she is now thriving and thoroughly enjoying all the attention she has been receiving from her many visitors and well wishers. She is not yet ready for a new home but will stay in our care until she is fit and strong enough to take on the world again.
"All of us at Cats Protection have been encouraged by the letters and emails of support we have received and by the horror and disgust that so many Foresters expressed at the cruel treatment that Betty was subjected to.
"Animal rescue can sometimes be a lonely and depressing task and it is good to have the reassurance that we are not the only ones who are appalled by such cruelty and neglect of animals - particularly pet animals who are allegedly "loved". Love doesn't seem to last too long these days and sadly, we usually have about 50 cats and kittens in our pens looking for new homes with many more on the list waiting for sanctuary.
"We would also like to say how very grateful we are for the generous donations, some anonymous, that have been sent to us to contribute to the cost of getting Betty well again."
