Regarding the numerous incidents which occur involving the A48 bridges, (I understand from a local resident at least one a week) I suggest height bars are erected on the approach.

I would have thought it an offence for a driver, who must be aware of his/her load height, to ignore both Imperial and Metric signs which are clearly visible on his/her route. However height bars would remove any doubt and also perhaps be a cheaper option to those already suggested.

This problem needs to be addressed before any further damage is done to the bridge and furthermore the rail link.
