LOCAL schools are celebrating GCSE success with a big increase in maths passes an outstanding feature.

Caldicot School saw a 20 per cent improvement in maths over last year with a pass rate of 68 per cent a highlight of its best-ever result.

Chepstow School saw its maths results improve by 10 per cent over last year – just months after a report published by inspectors had highlighted maths and English as being below expectations.

The maths results at Wyedean were the best-ever with a pass rate of 76 per cent.
