THORNAID, the charity gig organised to raise funds for fire-ravaged Thornwall Infants School at Chepstow, is gearing up for a fantastic night with six bands on the bill.
The event, planned by Chepstow band 'The Scary Door', lead guitarist and former Thornwell pupil Matt Barnes, aged 17, will see his 13 year-old brother Ollie's band 'It's a Trap' kick off the evening.
The other bands playing at the free event this Friday (July 22) at the Smirnoff Bar, White Lion Square, Chepstow, are 'Doom Child', 'The Bandits', 'Iridium' and 'Riot Act.'
Matt, who is studying for A-levels at Chepstow Comprehensive, said: "We're hoping to raise loads of money on the night so we have a nice big cheque to hand over to Thornwell head teacher Mrs Davies. Although its a free gig we will be selling wristbands, collecting cash and holding a raffle, so hopefully we can gather a decent amount.
"It was cool that Alison Beasley let us have the Smirnoff Bar to stage the gig. We can't thank her enough for all she has done to help and also all the bands that will be playing on the night."
