THE great great great granddaughter of the former Taylors and Lloyds – which is now known as Lloyds Bank – helped celebrate its 250th anniversary.

Well-known fundraiser Rosemary Rigby MBE, of Wormelow, near Ross-on-Wye, has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the blind, and was invited to the town's branch to cut the cake.

Rosemary's great great great grandfather John Taylor joined forces with Sampson Lloyd to open a private bank in Birmingham in June 1765.

She said: "It was an honour to celebrate the bank's anniversary and become part of history. I was also invited to attend the branch in Monmouth and Hereford – so my diary that day was pretty busy.

"My great great great grandfather was a Unitarian and a cabinet maker. Who would have thought the business would prosper as much as it has? It was a truly wonderful occasion."
