SIGNS that went up in Ross on Wye last week spell three weeks of potential chaos for Forest drivers headed in and out of the town.

Copse Cross Street, the narrow road that runs from the top of the High Street towards Tudorville, is to be closed for three weeks from January 21, with diversions in operation via Alton Street to gain access to the centre opf the town.

Meanwhile, further down the Forest road, single file traffic lights are in operation at the landslip between Kerne Bridge and Walford after contractors managed to clear one lane of the B4234 which had been completely closed for over a week. Work is expected to continue at this location for some weeks as the workers try and stabilise the steep slope of Kerne Hill that runs down to the River Wye. Traffic light failures at the site caused problems and delays for motorists on Saturday afternoon.

Contractors are also still working to completely reopen the main road down to Monmouth on the A4136 following the landslip west of Staunton. One carriageway remains closed and traffic lights are still in operation.
