HERE'S a message for the Forestry Commission...leave the sheep alone and just get rid of the pigs. Some might call them wild boar but they are just nasty, destructive. rooting, semi-domesticated pigs. There are those who think that by calling them 'wild' it will absolve the Commission from any responsibility. They were not 'wild' when some irresponsible, stupid person let them loose on Forestry Commission managed land. The good the presence of sheep does far outweighs any harm. A bit of reprocessed grass on the bottom of a shoe never hurt anyone, but these pigs are nothing but a parasitic plague.
It's time people got their priorities right.
Just stop and think about running sheep. Someone has to risk their money and rear the flock, someone has to kill the animals and butcher them. Meat does not grow ready-packed. As I said, get your priorities right.
The Forestry Commission should round up all the pigs and charge these so-called 'Friends of the Boar' £15 for them. Let these people keep them on their land.
Those who moan about the sheep should have the pigs outside their houses. There would not be any sheep again as there would be no grass left for them to eat. It would just be a ploughed field. How would they like that?
