BERRY Hill's rugby boys won their first trophy of the season last Saturday – for playing soccer!
The oval ball experts showed their all-round sporting skills in the club's annual six-a-side football tournament held to remember local sportsmen Paul Creed and Liam Teague who both lost their lives in road accidents. They had worked for Berry Hill's club chairman Nick Harris.
Saturday's tournament – played in a deluge – attracted 10 teams.
"It was the fourth time we have held the event and again it was a big success. Unfortunately we had to change the date so there were fewer entries than usual but again it was a great fund-raiser. This time the chosen charity was the Special Care Baby Unit at Gloucestershire Royal," explained club spokesman Lee Osborne.
Saturday's cash is still being counted and will be added to sponsorship raised by Berry Hill player Richard Hobbs who, with Colin Phelps, is taking part in a Land's End to John O'Groats cycle ride at the end of the month.

Lee said the club was planning another fundraiser later in the year.
