THE Rugby World Cup may have ended at the weekend but the Dean Heritage Centre is continuing with their celebrations of the sport until December 13.

Since September the centre has been exhibiting the history of rugby in the Forest of Dean and featured profiles on many local teams.

The Dean Heritage Centre wanted to capture people’s stories, the development and achievements of Forest sides and the enthusiasm and pride of players and rugby fans alike.

Collections officer at the centre, Nicola Wynn said: “As England hosted this year’s World Cup, we wanted to showcase Forest teams. Particularly we wanted to involve members of the community in this exciting exhibition; many of the items on display were kindly loaned to us by local rugby enthusiasts.

“This exhibition would not have been possible without the help and support of the Forest rugby teams. In particular the kind monetary donations by Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union and the Forest of Dean and District Rugby Football Combination, which has meant the Centre could professionally mount this exhibition.”
