MUD glorious mud, greeted a turnout of nearly 80 runners for the Forest's annual Christmas Tree multi-terrain run.
Setting off from Ellwood Football Club grounds, the runners headed downhill through ankle-deep muddy pools and brambles. The pack then trekked around through woods on the outskirts of Bream and Parkend, before gritting their teeth for a laborious uphill section to the finish line.
Fiona Turner of Forest of Dean Athletics Club said: "Many thanks to everyone who turned up to race, Ellwood Football Club, St Johns and club members."
