HUNDREDS of miles of Welsh roads had been covered on two wheels by saddlesore RAF military policeman Chris Howells and his pals by the time they reached Chepstow last week.
The group were riding to raise funds for research into Myotonic Dystrophy and support for sufferers and their families – Caldicot-reared Chris himself having two children, and his wife, diagnosed with the debilitating muscle condition.
"It was a great day and it looks as if they have raised around £4,500, with money still to come in," said his proud parents after they all met up in Chepstow at the end of the ride, which had started in Queensferry, North Wales, on May 15.
Sgt Chris 'Spock' Howells and fellow riders took in points all over Wales on their way to Chepstow where they were met with a rousing reception.
Before the ride he told the Review of the shock of discovering his children and wife needed the sort of help offered by the Myotonic Dystrophy Support Group. Now the serviceman, based at RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire, has little time to rest before he is off for a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
