MONMOUTH Comprehensive School this week unveiled a new school uniform designed by pupils, parents and teachers.
The school's Student Council cast the deciding vote, opting for modern black sweatshirts, pale blue polo shirts for most of the school, and traditional blouses, shirts and ties for the sixth form.
The school's distinctive flaming torch emblem appears on the sweatshirts, polo shirts and fleeces.
Head teacher Mrs Carole Anderson says: "We wanted to give the students a smart new look.
"We've seen a lot of change in the last few months with myself, a new deputy head and assistant head coming on-board, and having everyone involved in the design of the new uniform meant that we could really work as a team.
"The uniform combines fashion and practicality – it's also very hardwearing, so both parents and pupils are delighted."
By taking part in the Trutex 'School Link' mail order initiative, the school will receive a donation of 10 per cent of all sales from the school wear manufacturer.
The school plans to use the funds generated by the scheme to assist some low-income parents to purchase the new uniform and also develop the school environment for all pupils.
The uniform will be introduced on September 2 to mark the start of the new school year.
