WHITECROSS School in Lydney has opened a garden as a special quiet place where pupils and staff who have died while at the school can be remembered by their friends.
A service in the garden conducted by the Rev David Evans marked the opening, which was attended by pupils and school staff including head teacher Olivia McQuillan.
The school council decided to create the garden after 13-year-old pupil Samantha Herbert died in a car accident last year. In all some 18 brass plaques record former staff members and students.
Teacher Keith Childs organised fundraising events which included a non-uniform day, and many Forest businesses provided materials.
Tanya Davis read a poem which recalled her friends.
