I HAVE to take issue with the Labour Group claiming that FANS are "misunderstanding realities". The facts about the college leasing back the site from the HCA (ie the Government) have not escaped our notice. Thanks for the information, though.
Neither have the reasons Greg Smith gives for doing such a thing: those reasons, such as the building being unfit for purpose, having no independent documentary foundation that we have evidenced. No, no misunderstanding here. We know why it is moving: because there has to be an education facility to enable investment in Northern Quarter. Why can't you be honest?
The fact that the Berry Hill site could then be sold to developers has not escaped our notice either, which is why we say that Five Acres is Not for Sale. Not without real consultation with the community, and not without clear accountability and transparency. What a shame the Labour Group seem to have "misunderstood" why intelligent people get up and fight for their rights. And I thought that was what the Labour movement was proudly based on?
It is time FANS made something absolutely clear. We are seeking the truth, seeking transparency, seeking consultation. It is really simple. We are not campaigning for the good of our health, or because we don't understand the issues, we are campaigning because we do not believe the stories we are being told, and because our elected representatives do not appear to be listening to us. I hope that is clear.
