•It's not just eskimos who fish through holes in ice. This winter scene dates back to the 1960s when another big freeze turned Lydney's then fledging Boating Lake into an ice rink. The hardy fishermen are (from the left), Mike Parton, Dave Walker (who sent us the picture) and Trevor Brown. They smashed a hole in the ice to enable them to fish. Both the men in the background and, of course, the photographer are standing on the lake!
