IT might be more than three months away but Coleford Christmas Lights committee are already preparing for the festivities.

The committee are working hard to try and bring back the ‘best lights display in the whole world’ by hosting a fundraiser on Friday, October 9.

A pop quiz is being held at Bells Hotel and Golf Club, Coleford at 7.30pm.

Cllr Nicky Holloway said: “The new committee are keen to get the town back to the years when our lights boasted the most enviable display; where people travelled miles to see them.

“A lack of volunteers and money stopped this last year, however, with everyone’s help, the plan is to get the town back on the map for its stunning display once again. DJ Pete Stead will host the event and teams will be of four (£20 a team). Suitable for all ages as questions will be spread through the decades.”

Nicky added: “Any businesses that are willing to offer a team prize would be welcomed. Come along test your musical knowledge and support your local town. Coleford Music Festival recently returned to the town and showed such great community spirit still exists, let’s show the same support by getting us back in ‘lights’ once more.

“We are again being supported by Coleford Town Council, without whose support this event would be really struggling.”
