MODELS of by-gone and modern railways filled several rooms at the Dean Academy in Lydney for an annual railway show.

The Forest of Dean Model Railway Club welcomed guests from across south Wales, the Midlands and the south-west of England.

As well as layouts inspired by British steam and diesel, there were also a number of American scenes.

Younger visitors were offered the chance to operate a layout built by junior members of the Forest club.

The layout, called Winter Dan, was built by Blakeney teenager Dan Winters when he was 10-years-old.

There were more than 20 layouts for visitors to enjoy as well as models of buses and a 1960s fairground and a steam-themed painting by artist Dave Woolnough.
