CALDICOT Musical Theatre Society performed songs from the shows to raise funds for a special youth production later this year.

The society needs to find around £7,000 to fund a youth production of Les Miserables in October and The Magic of Musicals revue at Caldicot Choir Hall was one of a number of fundraisers planned.

Society chair Jo Postle said: "We will be staging Les Miserables School Edition with younger members at Caldicot School in October.

"We have received some grants but we also need to raise funds to stage the show.

"The show is a musical revue and showcases the talent in the group – some of who have never performed before – and the intention is to raise awareness and funds throughout the year for the performance in October."

The show featured solo and ensemble numbers from a range of musicals from The Sound of Music to Billy Elliott and played to packed houses on Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening.

The society is looking for performers to join the ensemble for the production of Les Miserables. Singers have to be 19 or younger and in full-time education. For more details call 07858 472437.
