A NEW cafe is offering a range of tasty treats – and the chance to help run the enterprise.
The Caldicot Community Cafe, based at the town's leisure centre, is staffed by students and former students of the local adult education centre.
The cafe is open every Thursday between 11am 1.30pm and aims to equip volunteers with basic skills to improve their prospects in the jobs market.
The project will give them invaluable experience in retail, the food industry and running a small enterprise from managing stock to budgeting and dealing with customers.
The cafe has been funded by a wellbeing grant which has covered the cost of cookery and food hygiene courses for volunteers.
Chris Postle of Monmouthshire Adult and Community Education said: "The self-confidence of the volunteers involved in this project has improved tremendously.
"I am immensely proud of the achievements to date of the students and tutors and enjoyed watching them blossom".
Anyone who wants to get involved in the project should contact the adult education centre in Caldicot on 01291 426852 or email chrispostle@
