A WEEKEND session by volunteers from the Transition Chepstow litter action group helped transform Warren Slade woods in Bulwark.

It has been several years since the last clean-up of the woods and a significant amount of rubbish had reappeared.

At the end of the weekend session the volunteers had filled a builders's bag with loose items, pulled out a pile of sheeting and mattress wire and filled a dozen bin bags with litter.

Much of the litter was cans and bottles which was taken for recycling by group coordinator Paul Gowen. The rest was removed by Monmouthshire Council.

Volunteers will be out again on Sunday and are looking for more people to join them.

The target will be the Parc Redding end of the woods on Sunday.

Meet at the Tenby Lane car park at 2pm. Gloves and equipment will be provided.
