A FOREST woman who has been running Slimming World clubs across the area, has just celebrated 20 years in the role with a special tea party.
Pauline Bent said that she is now seeing the daughters of women who came to her early classes during the early 1990s.
Pauline says: "Even in as little as 20 years people's life styles have changed. Physically women are not walking their children to school, choosing instead to go by car and in the home everything is being automated. The only physical labour in the kitchen is taking the washing out of the machine and putting it on the line and sometimes the tumble dryer eliminates this task.
"And when we go to work, life revolves around the computer and we don't seem to get the opportunity for any physical activity. It is so important to exercise and eat sensibly."
Pauline set up her first club in Mitcheldean 20 years ago and has been a consultant to other like-minded women who have set up clubs throughout the Forest, Monmouth and the Wye Valley areas.
•Pauline invites supporters to Frolic in the Forest this Sunday (July 10) in aid of the NSPCC. It'll be a sponsored walk around Berry Hill Rugby Club from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. All welcome.
