A LOVELY day, super surrroundings and a rousing display by Lydney's forwards – all that was missing was the miracle!
In reality it was never going to be as professional Worcester put Lydney to the sword with seven tries at Regentsholme on Saturday.
It was a typical Lydney cup match occasion, a good crowd urging on a passionate pack to produce a performance which won them a lot of friends. At the set pieces Lydney competed honourably and were never once on the back foot.
But behind the scrum it was a different story.
Done for pace and guile, Lydney tackled for all they were worth but at times it was like chasing shadows as Worcester's accomplished back line won the day.
"It was just what we expected and a really good test," said Worcester's John Brain afterwards.
"We improved on our performance the previous week and, as I expected, we had the edge out wide. We were happy to score seven tries and to lock Lydney out."
