I WAS very disappointed by the government’s failure to provide any extra money for adult social care.

Many of the most vulnerable elderly  British people are now being put at risk.

Tory-controlled Surrey Council proposes a 15 per cent Council Tax rise to make up for government underfunding.

How long before their comrades at Shire Hall in Gloucester suggest the same?

Rather than hitting the poor Council Tax payer, UKIP would  put extra money into this sector  by moving money from our  annual overseas aid budget.

Our proposal is to  reduce this from its current  £12 billion to £3 billion per annum.

This would still leave enough in the pot to pay for the most essential elements such as water, inoculation and disaster relief.

Long-term we need to see care for elderly persons  properly funded from national taxation.

In the meantime, we must  bring this money back home and put our own  people first.
