WHAT a very sad collection of letters appeared in last week's Review. They all had one aim: of rubbishing the UK Independence Party.

So we went through the tired old call someone a Nazi if they don't agree with you. The bizarre conspiracy theories of Elsmore to the churlish "I got beat and it's all the fault of the media" from Mickelson.

The common theme was the thousands of Foresters who voted for UKIP were either stupid or racist. I'm sorry but ordinary folk voted for UKIP because they were the only party that represented their views. You may not like it but that is how our democratic works.

I have no doubt that the three UKIP councillors elected are perfectly decent individuals. I am sure they will do an excellent job in representing the Forest of Dean in Shire Hall.
