POLICE are warning residents of a road in Sedbury to be alert and report any suspicious activity after two spates of vehicle vandalism in two months.
The targeted street was King Alfreds Road and the first series of incidents happened there overnight on New Year’s Eve going into New Year’s Day (Friday January 1), when four vehicles were damaged. Among the havoc caused, the back window of a purple Volkswagen Caddy van was smashed and a blue Chevrolet Tacuma was kicked and dented.
Then overnight between Saturday February 6 and Sunday February 7, around ten cars on the same road were keyed along their doors, with many vehicles left with three or four scratches.
Local PC Nick Assirati said: "We’re concerned, particularly because there have been two series of incidents.
"It sounds like drunken behaviour but it is causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage and a lot of inconvenience to the people in the road.
"My message to the community there is be alert and call 101 if you have any information or know anything. If you see suspicious activity or damage being caused, call 999."
Anyone who can help is urged to call 101 and quote incident 198 of February 7 if it relates to the most recent damage or incident 80 of January 3 if it relates to the damage caused at the beginning of the year.
