WHAT would a change to the speed limits achieve when the police and traffic control authorities cannot, or will not, enforce the present limits?

You can walk through Bream and probably any other village and see the speed limits being ignored by motorists and motorbike riders.

Even on estates where the council has put 'sleeping policemen' the limits are still being ignored.

Why can't the council demand the police start a purge on speeding, and make an example of a few of the offenders as well as publishing the names of those caught? – G. Wildin, Highbury Road, Bream.
